]]>No matter how crazy the world is at this time, you are a SENIOR and that is something to celebrate. Congratulations!! Now is the time to schedule your senior session. Dates are filling up quickly. You might be saying..."School hasn't even started" "I want photos in the Fall" "I've got time" Hey Senior I hear you...
Here are somethings I have learned over the past 10 years of being a high school senior photographer...
* put on your seat belt, because your senior year goes by so FAST
* school is right around the corner and so are ALL the activities you are involved in
* book your session now, so its on the calendar when October and November roll around
* your senior year goes by SO FAST (I'm not lying)
Call today to book your consultation. 405.408.0284
We are finding ourselves in an interesting time. None of us have been through an experience like this before. We are at home with our loved ones or by ourselves. I think it's important that we document our experience, in order to remember. We can do that through journaling and through photography.
I would like to help you document this time. I will be participating in #thefrontstepsproject which means I will come over to your home, I will stay on the sidewalk (or in the lawn...6 feet or more away) and take a family photo. Its a short session, 5 minutes. Every family is different, you may want to be fully dressed with fixed hair and make up or you may want to do a pj portrait. I want this to be fun for your family.
All important question... how much will it cost? I will not be charging for this session. I do ask, that you make a donation to your favorite charity or cause.
Please let me know if you are interested. I will then send you all the details.
Thank you!

Here are a few images from my nephew's session. Van 10 and is ALL about the animals. We spent a few hours at the OKC Zoo and captured some fun shots. Jax is the Nerf Gun Master. He was so proud of how many times he shot me with his nerf gun during our session.

The light in here is so soft. I can't get over the combination of the 1930s floors and the shiplap wall.
We are currently booking Easter Minis. Mother's Day minis are also right around the corner.
Here are a few images from his session.
Just a few weeks prior, a friend and I had left our Midtown studio so I was looking for something new. I had been nervous. I have been praying, but not sure what the Lord had in store for me. It wasn't long until I heard a clear voice say, "You will have a space, be patient." So I was looking but not crazy gazelle style of looking, just keeping my eyes open in my everyday errands and work.
I was photographing in Bethany on a Sunday afternoon, when I noticed the sign. I was a little curious. Then, as we drove to the second shooting location, I say another sign for the same place AND a third sign on the door of the space for rent. It was kinda like the Lord was saying...here you are!! The next day, I called and was able to look at the space. It was what I was looking for! This space is not just ANY space, it has a story that goes back YEARS!
When I started photography around 2004, I dreamed that one day I would have a studio space. I remember a few years later, meeting a photographer in Bethany that had the coolest studio. Her studio was in the heart of Bethany. She had an office downstairs, then upstairs she had several shooting rooms. I remember thinking.... "One day I want to have a space like this." You guys....this is my new space. This feels me with such joy that it brings tears to my eyes. The space has changed a little bit since she was in it...its been divided up. I am in the upstairs area.
The last week has been a roller coaster. I'm stepping out in faith and doing it SCARED!!
Current situation: My landlord is AMAZING!! The space was painted and finished in 2 days. I am currently moving in, but here are the BEFORE photos of the space. Hopefully in the next few days I'll have current photos. 'Til then...

Tristan is like many senior guys... he could care less about doing a senior photo session, but is willing to do it for his Mom. BUT my senior guys always say "Well that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And actually...it was fun!" This is my #1 goal for my senior guys session...make it as painless as possible and have fun in the process. I design the session around the seniors interest. For Tristan, that meant dressing up and going downtown OKC then going to the airport where he is currently taking flying lessons.
If you need a painless session, give me a call 405.408.0284

]]>Royce and Keri came into the studio a few weeks ago. I'm not going to lie, I was so nervous. I wanted everything to be perfect. But guess what? Life is not perfect! So what do you do when it's not perfect? You find the joy in the moment. Yes, there will still be tears, but choose JOY. I have learned so much about trust, love, and grace while watching Eva grow. This little girl has reached clear around the world with her family's story of love.
My prayer is that Royce and Keri will cherish these images forever.
Love you guys.

From El Reno, we traveled down Highway 81 to Highway 37. Do not blink or you will miss the abandoned gas station. W.S. Kelly Gas Station and General Store is still standing. Fun Fact: the exterior of abandoned gas station can been seen in the 1988 movie Rain Man. We were a little disappointed because there was a car that someone had parked directly in front of the gas station. We did our best to capture images without the car.
It's about to happen, it's time to send your little ones back to school. Some of you are over joyed and some of you are in tears. Whichever mom you are, I have a few helpful tips for capturing this special time.
Moms of Kindergarteners:
I love this idea. My sister Jae made a shirt with my nephew Van's graduation year on it. She will have him wear it before school each year and watch him grow.
Tip: Try to recreate this image in the same location each year.
Moms:
Take a photo in front of your child's school or school sign on the first day each year they attend that school.
Working Moms:
This is my favorite
TIP: Go to the school the weekend before (or the day before) school starts to capture your student's "First Day of School". No one but you will know, and it will make your "real" first day of school a little less stressful. So get them dressed in their "First Day of School" outfit, grab their backpack and go up to the school. Then go out for breakfast with your child for one last hoorah!

When I hear the name Kolton Brown, my brain switches to baseball. This young man eats, sleeps and breaths baseball. He was made for the sport. Kolton helped pave the way for SWCS to have their own baseball team. For years, several SWCS boys drove to Union City to be part of their high school baseball team. It was a great co-op that benefited everyone involved. This year, SWCS will have their own high school baseball team thanks for Kolton Brown, Josh McMinn, Garrett Lessman and Austin Riddell leading the way. Kolton Brown graduated from Southwest Covenant School in 2013.
Kolton is attending Oklahoma Christian University (OC) in Edmond. His major is Math with a minor in Education. He would like to coach and teach after making it to the next level of baseball.
Here are just a few things Kolton did this year:
-Received the NCCAA Offensive Conference Player of the Week
-Received the Heartland Conference Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week
This summer he is playing for the Park City Rangers in Wichita in KCLB where he was unanimously voted and won the Outstanding 1st Baseman of the League.
Kolton, I along with so many others, are beyond proud of the young man you have become and love watching you play.

Carson is a quiet guy, yet when he has something to say it is either extremely deep or hilarious. Carson graduated Valedictorian from Southwest Covenant High School in 2015. He gave a memorized speech that left the audience in ah and tears. I was speechless (yes...Mitzi had no words) because I knew that he had only known about the speech for a few days and wrote it in one day. It was outstanding.
Carson spent the first part of his summer working. He will be going to Albuquerque for the global botball tournament, and then preparing to move to Stillwater the last part of summer.
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring Carson is planning on attending OSU (Go Pokes!) in the Fall. He is not exactly certain what he wants to do yet but is leaning toward chemical engineering.

Josh McMinn graduated from Southwest Covenant High School in May 2015. Josh eats, sleeps and dreams baseball. God has given him a gift, and he is using it. Josh was recently named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger High School All-American Baseball team as a pitcher/outfielder. He has also been chosen for the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State baseball team and will play in the All-State game July 28th at ORU.
He will be attending ORU in Tulsa, OK in the Fall. He has not declared a major at this time. His focus will be to keep a solid GPA and be a successful Division 1 pitcher.
Josh you amaze me with your kind determined spirit. I'm looking forward to watching you play baseball for many more years to come.

She is an Anatolian Shepherd mix - and a rescue dog from Pets and People. The Smith family were dogless for almost a year after losing their 14-year-old lab. The children were begging for a dog so they went to Pets and People "just to look." (Which we all know is never truly the case) Well with those eyes and her sweet demeanor, it was love at first sight. Maggie does have one bad behavior... she loves Legos! So unfortunately, she doesn't get to sleep with her kids because she like to sneak out of bed to chew and eat Legos.

Happy Shooting,
]]>This is some info that I found online about glaciers and glacier calving: It takes about 400 years for ice to traverse the length of the glacier, meaning that the ice at the foot of the glacier is about 400 years old. The glacier routinely calves off iceberg the size of a ten-story building. Where the glacier meets the shore, most of the ice is below the waterline, and newly calved icebergs can shoot up quite dramatically, so that ships must keep their distance from it as they ply their way up and down the coast.
Braden and Thomas really enjoyed the calving. I told Thomas that if he yelled really loud, he could break the ice. I love when God gives us those little things…so just as Thomas yelled Hubbard calved and Thomas got so excited.
Happy Shooting,
Mitzi
]]>
If it hadn’t been so cold, you could have felt the excitement in the air as our ship began to go through the ice that was on the sea. You could see and hear the excitement as more and more people crowded on the desk. My secret place was not so secret anymore.
As we got closer to land and the glacier, we began to look for bears and sea creatures. We saw a few seals, but that was all. We wanted to see some whales, bears, and eagles. Guess what, we finally did….well we found ice that looked like whales, sharks and seals.
Happy Shooting,
Mitzi
]]>Once we were able to see the glacier, I was really not impressed; I was thinking, “What’s the big deal”? It looks like snow in the valley of these two mountains. What I didn’t realized was that when we began to see The Hubbard Glacier, we were still MILES away, as least 20 miles away. It seemed like we were never going to stop, we just kept going and going and going.
One thing I knew for sure, I was not going to move from my spot. I had a great location on an upper deck. Being 5 foot even, I knew that if I went to the lower deck, there was no way I could see over all the other tourists. So no matter how long it took to get to The Hubbard Glacier, I was staying put!!
]]>I really wish we had known several things. #1 – The tram pass was good for all day…we didn’t find this out until late in the afternoon. #2 – Mount Roberts is full of great hiking trails. You can even hike back down the mountain if you allow enough time.
The tramway did not disappoint. It ended up being one of my favorite activities of the entire trip.

Thomas sported his July 4th shirt, with it being July 4 th and everything. We were hoping to catch fireworks and any town festivities. Unfortunately, by the time our ship was cleared, we missed the parade. Did you know (b/c we didn’t) in Alaska, they do fireworks at midnight on July 3rd to welcome in July 4th. This is done due to the lack of darkness in Alaska during the summer time.
