Royce and Keri came into the studio a few weeks ago. I'm not going to lie, I was so nervous.  I wanted everything to be perfect. But guess what? Life is not perfect! So what do you do when it's not perfect?  You find the joy in the moment.  Yes, there will still be tears, but choose  JOY.   I have learned so much about trust, love, and grace while watching Eva grow. This little girl has reached clear around the world with her family's story of love.

My prayer is that Royce and Keri will cherish these images forever.

Love you guys.

OH Snap!

Fall Family Session with the Mortons https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2016/11/fall-family-session-with-the-mortons Finally feeling and looking like fall in Oklahoma. We hiked in the Morton's backyard and found some great places for their fall family session. These were the best teenagers I've ever photographed on an early SATURDAY morning. They were amazing! As most of you know I love children, but I have a special place in my heart for Kindergartners. I taught Kindergarten for several years and I just love them to pieces. I had so much fun doing a special session just for my Kindergarten friends, I wanted to do it again.

Today is Your Day will be April 16th at the studio.

Photo Adventures - Cogar, Oklahoma https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2016/1/photo-adventures---cogar-oklahoma First weekend of 2016 is showing much promise.  Steve and I went on our first Photo Adventure of 2016 with a trip west to Cogar, OK.  A friend of mine had told me about the cool old gas station, so Steve and I decided to go check it out. We started by traveling down Rt 66 with a quick stop to Rock Island Diner in El Reno.  When in El Reno, one must eat an onion burger.  It was good, but not as good as Roberts Onion Burger.

From El Reno, we traveled down Highway 81 to Highway 37.  Do not blink or you will miss the abandoned gas station.  W.S. Kelly Gas Station and General Store is still standing.  Fun Fact: the exterior of abandoned gas station can been seen in the 1988 movie Rain Man.  We were a little disappointed because there was a car that someone had parked directly in front of the gas station.  We did our best to capture images without the car.

Preparing for Back to School https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/8/preparing-for-back-to-school Moms,

It's about to happen, it's time to send your little ones back to school.  Some of you are over joyed and some of you are in tears.  Whichever mom you are, I have a few helpful tips for capturing this special time.

Moms of Kindergarteners:

I love this idea.  My sister Jae made a shirt with my nephew Van's graduation year on it.  She will have him wear it before school each year and watch him grow.

Tip: Try to recreate this image in the same location each year.

IMG_6516IMG_6516 IMG_6496IMG_6496

Take a photo in front of your child's school or school sign on the first day each year they attend that school.

IMG_6304IMG_6304 IMG_6308IMG_6308

Working Moms:

This is my favorite

TIP: Go to the school the weekend before (or the day before) school starts to capture your student's "First Day of School".  No one but you will know, and it will make your "real" first day of school a little less stressful.  So get them dressed in their "First Day of School" outfit, grab their backpack and go up to the school.  Then go out for breakfast with your child for one last hoorah!

Where Are They Now - Kolton Sr 2013 https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/8/where-are-they-now---kolton-sr-2013 IMG_7689IMG_7689 IMG_7742IMG_7742 IMG_7767IMG_7767 IMG_7858IMG_7858

When I hear the name Kolton Brown, my brain switches to baseball.  This young man eats, sleeps and breaths baseball.  He was made for the sport.  Kolton helped pave the way for SWCS to have their own baseball team.  For years, several SWCS boys drove to Union City to be part of their high school baseball team.  It was a great co-op that benefited everyone involved.  This year, SWCS will have their own high school baseball team thanks for Kolton Brown, Josh McMinn, Garrett Lessman and Austin Riddell leading the way.  Kolton Brown graduated from Southwest Covenant School in 2013.

Kolton is attending Oklahoma Christian University (OC) in Edmond.  His major is Math with a minor in Education.  He would like to coach and teach after making it to the next level of baseball.

Here are just a few things Kolton did this year:

-Received the NCCAA Offensive Conference Player of the Week

-Received the Heartland Conference Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week

This summer he is playing for the Park City Rangers in Wichita in KCLB where he was unanimously voted and won the Outstanding 1st Baseman of the League.

Kolton, I along with so many others, are beyond proud of the young man you have become and love watching you play.

Next Step - Carson Sr 2015 https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/next-step---carson-sr-2015 "For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach." ― J.R.R. TolkienThe Return of the King

Carson is a quiet guy, yet when he has something to say it is either extremely deep or hilarious.  Carson graduated Valedictorian from Southwest Covenant High School in 2015.  He gave a memorized speech that left the audience in ah and tears.  I was speechless (yes...Mitzi had no words) because I knew that he had only known about the speech for a few days and wrote it in one day.  It was outstanding.

Carson spent the first part of his summer working.  He will be going to Albuquerque for the global botball tournament, and then preparing to move to Stillwater the last part of summer.

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." ― J.R.R. TolkienThe Fellowship of the Ring  Carson is planning on attending OSU (Go Pokes!) in the Fall.  He is not exactly certain what he wants to do yet but is leaning toward chemical engineering.

Happy Shooting,

Update - Garrett Sr 2014 https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/update---garrett-sr-2014 Garrett is one of those seniors that I am going to say...."I knew him when..." He is an outstanding man and baseball player.  I've known Garett since he has a second grader running around church.  I remember taking pictures of him at our church's sports camp in his chosen sport, baseball.  Garrett and his dad Kevin's love for baseball came from a close friend, Keith Lytle, who is one of the coaches at Oklahoma City University.  Keith has a son, Joe, that is the same age at Garrett. When the boys were 5 yrs old, Keith would take them up to the fields ALL THE TIME to hit and take ground balls.  They were working out with the college boys every day at the age of 9.  And from then on, it's been Baseball.
Garrett graduated from Yukon High School in 2014.  Garrett attended Cowley County Community College in Kansas this last year and had a break out season.  He broke many of the school records as a freshman and led the juco league with the highest batting average and most RBI’s.  He won Marucci’s Elite hitting award, Cowley’s male athlete of the year, Jayhawk Conference MVP, All-Conference 3rd baseman for Jayhawk conference and Juco Male Athlete of the year where he was up against all Juco sports, not just baseball.  The award was handed out by Johnny Bench!!!  Garrett was drafted in the 22nd round by the Cleveland Indians, but decided to follow his heart and go to Oklahoma State University on a full ride scholarship to play 3rd base for the Cowboys!  Garrett has started his degree in business at Cowley and will continue that path at OSU.
The most memorable moment was when Garrett “hit for the cycle” in the regional playoffs.  That means he hit a single , a double, a triple and a homerun all in one game.  No other player had ever done that in regional playoff history.
Happy Shooting,
Mitzi Aylor

Next Step - Keylee Sr 2015 https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/next-step---keylee-sr-2015 Keylee graduated Valedictorian from Southwest Covenant High School (SWCS) in the Spring of 2015.  While at SWCS, she was a science aid and on the yearbook staff.  She played basketball for several years, until her knees said "No More!"  SWCS' Senior Trip to Boston is one of Keylee's favorite senior memories. After spending a week walking around all the places she had learned about through years, Keylee decided her favorite spot was Plymoth.

This summer, Keylee volunteered in 3 and 4-year-old class at her church, while also working at J's Hallmark.

In the Fall, Keylee will be attending Southwest Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). She plans to major in Allied Health and apply to SWOSU's physical therapy assistant program in a couple years.

Next Step - Josh Sr 2015 https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/next-step---josh-sr-2015 Josh has been watching baseball since before he can remember.  His mom would bundle him up to go watch his older brother Trent play tee ball.  He was so bundled up in his snowsuit he couldn't move.  He looked like a teddy bear.  As he got older, he would play catch with his dad during Trent's games.  By 3-years-old, people would stop and watch Josh play catch and throw.  As Josh got older, his skills and passion grew.  Every year at Covenant Community Church, Josh would chose baseball as his sport at UW Sports Camp.  When he was too old to be a camper, he would coach.  Summer and Spring where filled with baseball games for the McMinn family.  They truly enjoyed every minute.  There are only a few months out of the year that Josh is not playing baseball.

Josh McMinn graduated from Southwest Covenant High School in May 2015.  Josh eats, sleeps and dreams baseball.  God has given him a gift, and he is using it.  Josh was recently named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger High School All-American Baseball team as a pitcher/outfielder.  He has also been chosen for the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State baseball team and will play in the All-State game July 28th at ORU.

He will be attending ORU in Tulsa, OK in the Fall.  He has not declared a major at this time.  His focus will be to keep a solid GPA and be a successful Division 1 pitcher.

Josh you amaze me with your kind determined spirit.  I'm looking forward to watching you play baseball for many more years to come.

Happy Shooting,

Tschetter Family https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/tschetter-family For the past 14 years, I have had the privilege to grow under the teaching of Carlon Tschetter, the pastor of our church. His sweet wife, Bonnie, has shared her love of music with Thomas since he was 6-months-old starting with Kindermusic and now with Simply Music piano lessons. They are such a blessing to our family, and I was honored when they asked me to do family pictures. Their sweet family has grown by 5 new grandchildren in the last year! Was I a little nervous, YES...but I was up for the challenge because God's got my back. Seriously, it was a wonderful time. We had some wonderful laughs, and the results are priceless.

Maggie has a family https://www.aylorphotography.com/blog/2015/7/maggie-has-a-family Meet Maggie!

She is an Anatolian Shepherd mix - and a rescue dog from Pets and People. The Smith family were dogless for almost a year after losing their 14-year-old lab. The children were begging for a dog so they went to Pets and People "just to look." (Which we all know is never truly the case)  Well with those eyes and her sweet demeanor, it was love at first sight.  Maggie does have one bad behavior... she loves Legos!  So unfortunately, she doesn't get to sleep with her kids because she like to sneak out of bed to chew and eat Legos.
